North Cotswolds Tours

North Cotswolds Tours from £395

4hr – North Cotswolds Tours

Visiting: Lower Slaughter & Upper Slaughter, Bourton on the water, Snowshill, Broadway Tower and Broadway

You would be collected around 9am (or at a time to suit you) from a location of your choice, perhaps your local hotel or train station in the Cotswolds at Moreton in Marsh or Kingham. (Please ask, I can help with travel suggestions from London and Oxford)

From the pick-up point of your choosing, we would then travel to our first village in the Cotswolds, Lower Slaughter, where you can enjoy an idyllic walk along the River Eye and cross old stone footbridges. This village has remained unchanged for over a century and is often quieter than its busier neighbour Bourton on the Water. Then we visit the sister village of Upper Slaughter and find out why its known as a ‘thankful village’. Its then on to one of the most famous villages in The Cotswolds. Just a short trip to Bourton on the Water. Also known as ‘Little Venice’ due to the river Windrush passing through the centre of the village. It’s known for its low bridges, traditional stone cottages and so much more. Not to be missed!

On a longer trip we could visit Stow on the Wold for lunch or Chipping Campden depending on your preference or leave it for me to decide. Then we move on to Snowshill another village with exceptional unspoilt beauty and known for the beautiful Snowshill Manor which is well worth a visit if you have time.

Finally, to see as much as possible on your trip we leave Snowshill and visit Broadway Tower, an iconic landmark offering dramatic views, before we end the day in the large village of Broadway itself. Broadway is an excellent place to stay, and you will be following in the footsteps of both King Charles I who stayed overnight and Oliver Cromwell who visited before the Battle of Worcester in 1651.

8 Hour North Cotswolds Tour

As per the above 4 hour tour but an opportunity to visit two or three other villages such as Adelstrop which is best known for the 1917 poem by Edward Thomas and for the visits made by Jane Austen and perhaps this was her inspiration for Mansfield Park. I have other ‘secret’ locations which are well worth a visit, off the beaten track, and on this extended tour we could also visit villages such as Stanway where there is a fine Jacobean House with the biggest water fountain in Britain, which is sometimes open to the public, or Stanton where the entire village is virtually made from the local limestone. One of the most unspoilt villages in the Cotswolds.
